Facial Pain

Bruxism is the subconscious clenching and grinding of your teeth mostly occurring during sleep where, without muscle control your bite force can be up to 6 times greater than when you are awake. In addition to tooth damage and the possible loosening or loss of restorations and fillings, bruxism can contribute to headaches and facial muscle pain when waking.

To prevent damage occurring and help relieve pain, a custom-made protective night guard or bite splint may be required.

Regular examinations by The Dentists can detect the signs that can indicate you grind your teeth, which can cause excess wear of tooth surfaces, as well as chips and cracks in your tooth enamel.
